Teams

What will you do?

By volunteering with SEAVENTS you will play a key role in the implementation of sustainable event solutions. A meaningful and hands on experience with only good vibes in a vibrant and inspirational environment. Get ready to join our mission to waste free festivals.
Seavents provides a lot of different event solutions that require different tasks. We usually work in teams on specific tasks but we are always flexible because tasks are often overlapping.

Circular foodcourt team

In the circular food court you will help us to turn waste into magic. How? By transforming biodegradable materials into a new resource: Compost!

  • -Sort-out, compost and sift organic material
  • Hand-out and collect Green Buckets at the Food Trucks
  • Empty Green Bins
  • Collect organic material from visitors and explain what we are doing
  • Dirty but team

Our STUB – Reusable Pocket Ashtrays are the ultimate solution to keep cigarette butts off the ground, they are the best welcoming present a festival visitor can ever get and the best thing off all: You can hand them out!

  • Handing out STUB – Pocket ashtrays to all smoking visitors at the entrance of the festival terrain.
  •  Create awareness on the facts of cigarette waste in nature
  • As a side effect, non-smoking visitors are inspired to keep the festival terrain clean as well, because by focussing on the butts we set a high norm on how clean we want to keep the festival.
  •  The interaction between the Dirty Butt Team and the visitors is a positive and playful one, finally smokers can do something good with their bad habit!
  • Reusable Tableware Team

Do you want to revive memories of your first weekend job as a teenager working on the dishes in a restaurant? What are you waiting for, this is your chance. But we promise, it will be a lot more fun! (not less dirty though ;))

  • Deliver clean reusables to caterers / food trucks
  • Take-in dirty reusables from visitors at the Recycle Hub
  • Buzzing tables; Collect reusables from tables in food court to bring back the the recycle hub
  • Sort out different types of plates & bowls
  • Washing of reusables
  • Informing visitors about our concept
  • Monitoring Team

A wise man once said: Zero Waste, Altijd Feest. But a wise man also said; Numbers Tell The Tale. By monitoring waste streams you will help us gain important data that will be used to improve signing, communication and bin set-up.

  • Neatly sort out waste bags and count all the items into different categories
  • Registering the items onto a form
  • Resource recovery team

Don’t you hate it when good materials are being dumped in the trash and go to waste? We are here to change that! Unfortunately not all festival visitors participate correctly in the recycle systems in place, YET!, causing lots of valuable items to end up in the RESTafval / residual waste bins or on the ground. We recover as many of these items as possible to save them from incineration and secure proper reuse or recycling.

  • We run through waste bags recovering all items with a high reuse and recycling potential such as: HARD CUPS – CANS PLASTIC BOTTLES – DEODORANTS – SUN SCREENS
  • HARD CUPS are sorted into their different sizes and brought back to the bars
  • CANS & PLASTIC BOTTLES are collected in emballage bags and tagged with a label.
  • DEODORANTS & SUN SCREENS are cleaned and donated to the Salvation Army (believe me, they are very very happy with our contributions)
  • Whats in it for you?

    Dirty hands, a learning experience
    and a whole lotta fun!

We are forever grateful for all the great people that choose to come and volunteer with us. We try to accommodate you as good as possible so your shift will run smoothly. But did you know that volunteering with us is also very beneficial for you?

    Frequently asked questions

How do I register for a festival?

Fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page to join our community mailing list. We will keep you updated on upcoming events you can sign up for through our registration forms.

You sure can, the more the merrier. Just mention their name in the registration form that we will share with you through our community mailing list. And also make sure your friend(s) register for our mailing list as well so they can sign up individually.

You sure can. Everyone who supports our mission is welcome to join our team. It is important to us that everybody feels welcome and comfortable while volunteering with us. Next to that, volunteering with Seavents is a great way to meet new like-minded people. Many friendships have originated in the recycle hub.

You don’t need any experience to come and volunteer with us. All you need to do is have a good read through the briefing you’ll receive beforehand, bring a hands-on work mentality and good vibes of course!

No you do not receive an additional payment for volunteering. But you do get free entrance to the festival, food, drinks and a fun time!
Once you’ve gained volunteering experience with us and you like what we do, you can apply for our Green Team and sign up for paid shifts.

Most importantly: Good Vibes! All the other stuff we’ll communicate beforehand through a detailed briefing. PS: Don’t forget your reusable water bottle because there’s no excuse for single use.
We supply every volunteer with a pair of gloves and a SEAVENTS t-shirt to work in. In our recycle hub we have a sanitation station where you can wash your hands and freshen up. We’ll always have you covered with enough sun-screen, hydration and snacks to endure the summer sun. And it’s important you bring sturdy shoes to work on.
We told you you were getting your hands dirty right? Some of our activities definitely revolve around digging through some trashure! But actually, we are recovering resources by optimizing by optimisation of waste streams (which normally would have to be incinerated) into recyclable monoflows of resources. Our linear society needs to transform into one where materials can be used over and over again. By volunteering with us you’ll experience the epic joy of transforming waste into resource, contributing to a future-proof society where our material use is in line with the limits of our planet. PS: sorting out materials is actually a very zen and humbling experience

What’s it like to be part of
    the Seavents Team

    Leah, coordinator

During Wonderfeel, I coordinated a group of volunteers for a weekend alongside Tarn. This was my first experience coordinating for Seavents, after having worked with the Green Team at a few festivals the previous year. Although I was a bit nervous about coordinating for the first time, everything went smoothly thanks to Jeroen’s trust and my seamless collaboration with Tarn, a good friend of mine. Weekends like this are not only educational but also a lot of fun! Through Seavents, I gained valuable practical insights into the organization and sustainability of festivals, as well as their challenges and opportunities. It was a great chance to blend the sustainability knowledge from my Bachelor’s degree with my hands-on experience as a waste collector in Utrecht. A win-win situation!

Working with Seavents during the summer of 2024, especially at the Tomorrowland festival, was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my year. Moving to the Netherlands at the start of summer, my primary goal was to finish my master’s thesis and work as a chef in a restaurant. However, I had some free time and wanted to make the most of it. By chance, I found a spot with Seavents to work at a festival, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made that summer.
Joining Seavents not only gave me the chance to work more but also to contribute to something very important, sustainability, and to be part of a project/company with this philosophy that interested me a lot. Besides that, it gave me the chance to meet people from all over the world. The team was incredibly diverse, with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. What stood out to me was the unmatched energy and camaraderie among us. Even on the toughest days, when we were exhausted, sweating, and subsisting on cheese toasties and tomato soup for lunch, we came together as a real TEAM. Everyone genuinely supported and helped each other, making the work not just manageable but very enjoyable alongside great music.
Tomorrowland was particularly special. Beyond the hard work, we bonded over our shared experiences, ending our shifts with a beer in hand and enjoying performances like Timmy Trumpet’s and Dimitri Vegas & like Mike together. As a former newcomer to the Netherlands, Seavents provided me with amazing connections that turned into real friendships, which I still cherish to this day.
I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of Seavents. Thank you for an unforgettable summer filled with memories and lifelong friends.

    Rae, coordinator

As a Cigarette Butt Coordinator at Lente Kabinet, I had the pleasure of leading a team of volunteers to distribute reusable pocket ashtrays to festival attendees. The experience was incredibly rewarding, especially seeing how much awareness had grown around the initiative. Unlike a few years ago, when most festival-goers were unfamiliar with the pocket ashtrays, this year, the majority of attendees recognized them and were genuinely excited to receive one. It was really cool to witness this shift and see the enthusiasm people had for tackling ciggy butt waste. For the festival goers who didn’t know about the ashtrays, we took the opportunity to engage and inform them. The positive reactions were overwhelming—people were eager to learn and participate in the initiative. Our team stood at the festival entrance, where every guest passed by, which created a lively atmosphere. Everyone was full of energy and excitement, which made it easy to connect with them. The experience was made even better by the incredible Seavents team. The combination of impactful work, positive interactions, and the vibrant festival energy made this an unforgettable and meaningful experience.

LagoLago was a blast! Because of the amazing colleagues, fun interactions with festival visitors, the diversity in tasks, and being able to enjoy the festival atmosphere while doing those tasks, the volunteer shifts didn’t feel like work at all and were great fun. The work was also fun as it felt rewarding to be able to contribute towards sustainability on such a practical scale, and I was able to learn about both waste and festival management. Jeroen always makes sure everyone feels comfortable and takes plenty of breaks. Outside of the shifts, there was ample free time to explore the festival grounds and party in the evenings. As volunteers, we slept in luxurious bell-tents, and got staff food three times a day! My experience at LagoLago as a SEAVENTS-volunteer was thus way more special and valuable than if I would’ve gone as a regular visitor.

Last summer, I worked for Dekmantel Festival, a large-scale event where music fanatics from around the world come together to enjoy experimental electronic music. The festival takes significant steps toward sustainability. With Seavents we managed a circular food court, pocket ashtrays, and a structured recycling and waste separation system backstage. My role involved overseeing recycling and waste separation by preparing and coordinating these efforts during the festival. Everything went smoothly, and we noticed considerable improvements in sustainable behavior compared to previous years. Next year, I hope to take even further steps in sustainability because there are still plenty of opportunities to improve.

At Seavents, you’re at the heart of festival-loving Netherlands, a world that doesn’t typically prioritize recycling or sustainability. Standing there as a coordinator truly feels rewarding—it shows how small actions can come together to make a big difference. It’s so dynamic: you work in the midst of the chaos of a festival weekend and give mountains of waste a new purpose. On top of that, you’ve recycled the equivalent of an entire small town in just one weekend. For me, this isn’t just a job; it’s my way of giving something good back to the world and showing people that sustainability and fun can go hand in hand.

    Lotte, volunteer

Picture this: a sunny weekend in May, sunglasses on, surrounded by great vibes in the lively Tuinen van West, Amsterdam. Right in the heart of the festival’s bustling food court, we set up the recycle hub—a hotspot for sustainability enthusiasts and curious festival-goers alike. Our mission? To collect, sort, and transform waste into biogas and compost. Yes, that meant rolling up our sleeves and diving into the sorting process. But believe me, it was way more fun than it sounds! Working to make a festival zero-waste is rewarding and exciting, especially when you’re part of a young, energetic team. Add good music, an electric atmosphere, and the chance to chat with visitors about our eco-friendly mission, and it didn’t feel like work at all. During breaks, we soaked in the festival vibes—dancing, exploring the grounds, and even jump-roping with fellow attendees. It was a perfect blend of making a difference and making memories. This wasn’t just a weekend job; it was a fun, impactful adventur

What was the highlight of the Madness Festival? That is an impossible question to answer. For me the whole festival is one big Highlight. This festival is about music, movement, good food and sustainability. What stood out for me is how easy it is to meet new people on MadNes. There is an amazing selection of clinics to take part in. This invites people to try new things. People assist each other during the activities which makes it easy to connect. This can be windsurfing, slacklining, painting, trawl fishing, Brazilian dance, you name it! The festival takes place at the most amazing location, literally next to the sea on the beautiful island Ameland. You are surrounded by nature. Our task as inhabits of the planet to take care of this beauty also plays a part in the festival. This is also where SEAVENTS comes in. Working for SEAVENTS gives you an opportunity to bring awareness in a fun and constructive way. Lots of curious festival visitors come by the Recycle Hub to see what is going on and how we use ‘trash’ as a resource, wanting to peek in the compost machine and feel and smell the gold we are producing. Also the handing out of pocket ashtrays makes for thankful and enthusiastic reactions about the practicality of the solution to reduce plastic in the environment. As a volunteer I loved to be able to see behind the scenes. Last time I was present during the setup and dismantling of the festival. It is great to be part of the team. Not only to share ‘stoke’ during the work shifts but also to party (and surf) with your team members between, after and before shifts.’ For the festival goers who didn’t know about the ashtrays, we took the opportunity to engage and inform them.
